Bibb County Woman Killed, 3 Others Injured In Friday Crash

A Centreville woman was killed and three others, including two children, were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Centreville woman was killed and three others, including two children, were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning on U.S. Highway 82 near Centreville.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said on Saturday that the crash occurred at approximately 6:58 a.m. Friday, when the 2018 Jeep Compass driven by Jennifer C. Chism, 34,was struck by the 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by a man from Haleyville.

ALEA went on to say that Chism was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, which was roughly five miles east of Centreville.

Additionally, ALEA said two 8-year-old passengers in the Jeep were injured and airlifted to an area hospital for treatment, while the driver of the tractor-trailer was injured and transported to Bibb County Medical Center in Centreville.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
