Bobby Humphrey To Headline UWWA Young Leaders Society's Lunch & Learn

Humphrey will share stories from his standout football career, as well as personal insights into his life off the field.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former University of Alabama and NFL running back Bobby Humphrey will be the featured speaker at a Lunch & Learn event hosted by United Way of West Alabama’s Young Leaders Society on Thursday, July 24.

The event, which begins at 11:30 a.m., will take place in the United Way Board Room at 2720 6th Street in downtown Tuscaloosa.

Humphrey will share stories from his standout football career with the Crimson Tide and in the NFL, as well as personal insights into his life off the field.

A two-time All-American, Humphrey was a standout in the Alabama backfield from 1985 to 1988 and set the school’s single-season rushing record with 1,471 yards.

Humphrey played professionally for the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins before retiring from the NFL in 1993.

After his playing career came to close, Humphrey returned home to Birmingham, where he and his wife, Barbara, raised five children. His son, Marlon Humphrey, played for Alabama and now plays cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens.

His other children — Maudrecus, Marion, Breona, and Brittely — also excelled in collegiate football and track.

Humphrey now serves as vice president of business development at Bryant Bank.

Tickets for the event are priced at $15 for Young Leaders Society members and $20 for general admission.
