Brookwood Alum, Coaling Native Named New Head Football Coach At BHS

Brookwood High School Monday night officially introduced Coaling native and BHS alumni Chris Foster has been hired as the school's new head

BROOKWOOD, AL — Brookwood High School Monday night officially introduced Coaling native and BHS alumni Chris Foster has been hired as the school's new head football coach.

The announcement was made during a media and community event held at the school, with Foster returning to his alma mater after serving as the head coach at Priceville in Decatur since 2019.

He first set out his coaching career at Aliceville High School Foster began his coaching career at Aliceville, along with a stint at Samson and a four-year run as an assistant at Brookwood, where he spent one season as defensive coordinator and two years as offensive coordinator.

After being hired at Priceville, Foster led the 5A Bulldogs to a 40-18 record, including posting back-to-back seasons with 10 or more wins. His squad underperformed in 2023, posting a 5-7 record for Foster's only losing season as a head coach.

"We are so excited to have Brookwood alum and Coaling native Chris Foster return to lead and shape our football program," Brookwood Mayor Joe Barger told Patch. "He has a proven record with an outstanding ability to take our program to the next level. With his genuine love for the community and the knowledge he brings to our program, the sky is the limit. I couldn’t be more proud to be a Brookwood Panther!"

Foster takes the place of Mike Bramblett, who was fired at the end of the 2023 campaign after going 12-38 over five seasons, with his best individual campaign coming in 2022 when he led the Panthers to a relatively impressive 4-6 record.
