City Of Tuscaloosa Accepting School Supplies For Parking Fines
The City of Tuscaloosa says residents can once again pay off $18 overtime parking tickets with a donation of school supplies valued at $10.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Ahead of the 2024-2025 school year, the City of Tuscaloosa says residents can once again pay off $18 overtime parking tickets with a donation of school supplies valued at $10.

City officials said school supplies valued at $20 or more will be accepted in place of two $18 parking tickets, with all received supplies donated to the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education and distributed to Tuscaloosa City Schools students in need.

Participants can bring their school supplies to Tuscaloosa Municipal Court at 2122 6th Street, with the program set to start July 15 and end on Aug. 9.
Here is a list of suggested supplies and their estimated values that will be used if a receipt is not provided. The city said any school supplies valued at $10 will be accepted.

- Mechanical or No. 2 pencils: $1
- Binder Pouches: $6
- Clorox/Lysol wipes, three packs: $6.50
- Highlighters, three count: $2.10
- Highlighters, 10 count: $6
- Hand sanitizers: $2
- Boxes of Kleenex tissues: $1.60
- Binder dividers: $1.50
- Box of crayons: $3
- Kids’ scissors: $1.50
