City Of Tuscaloosa Accepting School Supplies For Parking Tickets

The City of Tuscaloosa is accepting school supply donations to cover overtime parking tickets.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa is accepting school supply donations to cover overtime parking tickets.

The initiative began Monday, with Tuscaloosa residents able pay off $19 parking tickets with a donation of school supplies valued at $10.

The city says school supplies valued at $20 or more will be accepted in place of two $19 parking tickets.

The supplies received by the city will be donated to the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education and distributed to local students in need.

School supplies valued at $10 will be accepted with a purchase receipt.

Participants can bring school supplies to Tuscaloosa Municipal Court at 2122 6th Street, with the program set to start July 7 and end on Aug. 1.

Those with questions are asked to call 311.

  • Heavy duty backpacks
  • Ream white copy paper
  • Index cards
  • Black & blue ink pens
  • 16gb flash drive
  • Scientific calculators
  • Erasers – 3 packs
  • Standard/college ruled paper
  • College-ruled spiral notebooks
  • Mechanical or #2 pencils
  • Binder pouches
  • Clorox/Lysol wipes 3 packs
  • Highlighters 3ct.
  • Highlighters 10ct.
  • Hand sanitizers
  • Box(es) of Kleenex tissues
  • Binder dividers
  • Box of crayons
  • Kids’ scissors
