City Of Tuscaloosa Announces Holiday Schedule, Garbage Pickup

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City Of Tuscaloosa says City Hall will close at 4 p.m. and 311 will close at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 as the city observes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

City offices will remain closed on Friday, Dec. 22, and Monday, Dec. 25.

For New Year's Day, Tuscaloosa City Hall will close at 4 p.m. and 311 will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29. City offices will remain closed on Monday, Jan. 1, with normal hours set to resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The city says garbage, trash and recycling routes will be delayed one day the week of Dec. 25 and the week of Jan. 1, with Monday routes being collected Tuesday, Tuesday routes on Wednesday, Wednesday routes on Thursday, and Thursday routes on Friday.

Additionally, the city will offer tree recycling and holiday garbage drop-off between Dec. 26 and Jan. 6.

Live trees and greenery may be recycled at the Curry Environmental Services facility — located at 3440 Reese Phifer Avenue.

The city says greenery may be dropped off at any time and must be completely free of decorations and lights.

A separate bin will also be available for recycling lights.

Lastly, a holiday garbage collection trailer and a cardboard recycling bin will be located outside of the Environmental Services facility, along with being placed outside of Verner Elementary School.
