TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa announced Saturday it will open several storm shelters as a dangerous for potential for severe weather moves into the area.

  • Bryant High School
  • McDonald Hughes Community Center (pet friendly)
  • Northridge High School
  • Skyland Elementary
  • University Place Elementary
Storms are expected to begin moving into the Tuscaloosa Patch coverage area around noon, with the threat persisting through the evening hours, possibly into the overnight hours.

The latest hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service says storms today could bring damaging winds up to 60 mph, large hail up to quarter size and a few tornadoes will be possible.
