City Of Tuscaloosa Placing Out Dumpsters For Student Moving Season

The City of Tuscaloosa has announced it has placed 10 additional roll-off dumpsters for students to use during the busy moving season.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa on Wednesday announced it has placed 10 additional roll-off dumpsters for students to use during the busy moving season until Friday, Aug. 21.

The city says the dumpsters were added to assist students and their families in the removal of household waste, with dumpsters marked by move-in/move-out signage.

The dumpsters are for residential use only and the city prohibits contractors or businesses from throwing out waste at the sites.

The city also asks that all debris be placed inside the dumpsters and not around the dumpsters on the ground.

Recyclable items — cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, plastic bags, aluminum cans, steel soup cans, newspapers/magazines and office paper — can be deposited in the blue curbside recycling bin or the drop-off recycling trailers located around the city.

Additionally, electronics can be recycled at the city's Environmental Services Facility, which is located at 3440 Reese Phifer Avenue, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

  • Cloverdale Drive at Meador Drive
  • 300 Thomas Street (behind apartment building)
  • 7th Avenue & 12th Street
  • 8th Avenue & 11th Street (in front of Capstone Condominiums)
  • 11th Avenue & 12th Street (in front of Heathrow Apartments)
  • 12th Street behind Tutwiler
  • 12th Street & 14th Avenue
  • 8th Avenue & 13th Street
  • 13th Street behind Jacks
