Commander Of TPD's Criminal Investigation Division Arrested For Domestic Violence
The head of the TPD's Criminal Investigations Division is behind bars on a 24-hour hold after being charged with felony domestic violence.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The commander of the Tuscaloosa Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is behind bars on a 24-hour hold after being charged with domestic violence - strangulation.

Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley confirmed to Patch that TPD Captain Kip Hart — who oversees the division tasked with investigating domestic violence incidents and other crimes — was arrested early Sunday morning on the felony charge.
Blankley said Hart was not at the scene when TPD initially responded but was later taken into custody and has been placed on administrative leave.

After receiving the initial report, the case was handed over to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office and a TCSO spokesperson told Patch that investigators responded around 3 a.m. with probable cause to charge Hart.
Hart remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with his bond set at $5,000 on the Class B felony.
