TUSCALOOSA, AL. – Community Service Programs of West Alabama (CSP) on Thursday announced the launch of Healthy Homes, which aims to promote childhood wellness and safety by addressing hazards commonly found in homes.

The program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the initiative specifically focuses on 29 hazards, with the goal of helping homeowners and rental tenants keep their homes dry, clean, safe, well-ventilated, pest-free, contaminant-free, well-maintained, and thermally controlled.

“Healthy Homes adds tremendous value to CSP’s portfolio of resources,” CSP’s Healthy Homes Program Support Specialist Kimberly Montgomery said. “It is an honor to implement this beneficial program, and we encourage those interested to apply quickly to schedule an in-home assessment while funds last.”

CSP says applications are now being accepted from homeowners, renters, and landlords — on behalf of low-income tenants —in Bibb, Choctaw, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.

CSP also said eligible households will meet income limits and have children under six live in or frequently visit the home.
