Cottondale Teen Dies After Sunday Morning Crash In Tuscaloosa County

A 17-year-old from Cottondale has died following a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Tuscaloosa County.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A 17-year-old from Cottondale has died following a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Tuscaloosa County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Alabama Highway 216, approximately three miles east of Tuscaloosa.

ALEA then said the teen was driving a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup when the vehicle left the roadway, struck an iron sign and then collided with a tree.

The teen was transported to a local hospital and later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
