For Alabama, the three rivalry games underscore the conference’s latest effort to preserve “traditional rivalries, competitive fairness, rotational frequency and ensuring a home-and-away balance."

As Patch previously reported, the SEC’s shift to nine conference games and its rotational model aims to ensure every school plays each other at least once every two years, with a home-and-away cycle over four years.
