DCH Health System Hires Rick Plummer As Vice President Of Marketing & Communications

TUSCALOOSA, AL — DCH Health System on Monday announced that Rick Plummer has joined the west Alabama health care provider as its vice president of marketing and communications.

DCH Health System said Plummer will work closely with hospital system leaders in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies, in addition to heading up media relations, internal/external/executive communications and digital strategy.

“DCH is focused on growing clinical services to support the needs of the community, and Marketing is a pivotal function to facilitate that growth," DCH's Chief Operating Officer Mallary Myers said. "Rick’s extensive experience will help support that growth in a strategic way as we position the hospital for success now, and into the future."

DCH says Plummer brings with him more than two decades of health care marketing and public affairs experience, mostly recently working as the assistant vice president of marketing and branding for Wellstar MCG Health in Georgia.

What's more, Plummer previously worked for Dignity Health in California, where he coordinated brand development and created award-winning marketing strategies.

Before his time in health care, though, Plummer built a successful career in broadcast journalism working as a TV news reporter for KEPR-TV in Pasco, Washington, and as a news producer for KLAS-TV in Las Vegas.

Plummer, a longtime Rotarian, holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from Washington State University and a master’s degree in Health Care Innovation from Arizona State University.
