Death Investigation Underway After Body Found In Wooded Area In Northport

Investigators are still working to identify a decomposed body found in Northport on Wednesday.

NORTHPORT, AL — Investigators are still working to identify a decomposed body found in Northport Wednesday morning.

Northport Police Department Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter told local media Thursday morning that NPD officers and investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded at approximately 9:15 a.m. when the body was discovered in a wooded area off of Northbrook Drive.

VCU Assistant Commander Marty Sellers told Patch on Wednesday that the body was located in the area behind the Vestavia Shopping Center and said he had not been informed of anything suspicious relating to the death investigation.
