"The incident happened inside of a mobile home park, and therefore is on private property, and not a public road," he explained. "Because of this, the VCU is working the case, not the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency."
Kennedy provided additional details in a wider media release Thursday afternoon, saying Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputies responded to the initial call at 5 p.m.

The injured child was transported to an area hospital, but did not survive her injuries.
"The driver is not suspected of being impaired by drugs or alcohol," Kennedy said. "No arrests have been made at this time, but the case is currently still under active investigation."
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is made up of investigators from the area's different law enforcement agencies, who are tasked with investigating homicides, unexplained or untimely deaths, sexual offenses, suicides, kidnappings and any other violent crimes against a person.
Kennedy then said anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690.
