Former Lake View Mayor Arrested For Child Pornography

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Deputies with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday morning arrested the former mayor of Lake View for possession of child pornography.

Paul Calhoun, 53, was appointed mayor of the town in 2016 before winning a four-year term, and is currently being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond.

TCSO Sgt. Josh Hastings told Tuscaloosa Patch that investigators recovered some electronic devices they believed belonged to Calhoun and recovered child pornography from the devices.

Hastings said while Calhoun is being held on the single count of possession, investigators anticipate more charges moving forward.

The arrest Wednesday was also not Calhoun's first brush with the law, following his guilty plea in Tuscaloosa County District Court in 2020 to voting on a matter where he had a financial interest.

Calhoun resigned from office after entering the guilty plea to the Class A misdemeanor.
