Former Northridge Standout Lifts UWA Women's Soccer To First Conference Win

LIVINGSTON, AL — The University of West Alabama (UWA) women's soccer team snagged a win over Christian Brothers Sunday, thanks in part to the offensive contributions of former Northridge High School standout Aileen Charles.

The 2-0 victory against Christian Brothers improved UWA's record to 2-5-3 overall and 1-3-3 in Gulf South Conference play.

Charles, a former high school football kicker who holds the Alabama record for most points scored by a female, netted her third goal of the season four minutes into the match by way of an assist from Emily Callahan.

The daughter of Randy and Jerelind Charles, the former Jaguar has scored three goals in 10 games for UWA during the 2024 season.

The Tigers held a 1-0 lead for the rest of the half, with UWA goalkeeper Dior Wilson making two saves to preserve the shutout.

UWA then extended its lead when Shayen Graf scored her first goal of the season in the 64th minute, thanks to another assist from Callahan.

UWA will return to action on Friday in a road match at Mississippi College.
