The business previously operated at a location off of Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard a short drive away before moving to the recently renovated Vestavia Plaza, which is now owned by Right Space Commercial.

Owned by couple Tim and Missie Yzaguirre, the store offers a wide range of sports memorabilia, trading cards and other pop culture collectibles, along with a small coffee shop in the back of the store.

Missie explained that her husband previously worked as an officer with the Vance Police Department and collected comic books as a hobby. However, once she began to worry that his job was becoming too dangerous, she encouraged him to pursue his hobby full-time by opening a comic book shop.

"Then we realized how much of a need there was in the community for families to come to bring their kids and spend time with them," Missie said, going on to say this inspired the couple to expand the business's offerings.

Izzy's Coffee & Collectibles also recently held a fundraiser where it gave an entire day's revenue as a donation to the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, totaling $1,155.

"We're so excited to have y'all here and I love the new location," District 4 Councilwoman Jamie Dykes told the owners during a brief ceremony.

Izzy's Coffee & Collectibles is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and then on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
