Juvenile Charged With Assault After Shooting On 1st Street East
Investigators on Wednesday announced that a juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting on 1st Street East

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Wednesday announced that a juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting on 1st Street East Monday evening.

As Patch previously reported, the shooting was reported around 6:41 p.m. in the 5000 block of 1st Street East, where police found that a 21-year-old man had been shot once.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, said a juvenile subject was charged with first-degree assault as an adult and committed to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

"The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be filed in the future," Kennedy said. "Pursuant to Alabama law, since the subject charged is a juvenile, no identifying information can be released."
