Keri Johnson Issues Statement Ahead Of Resignation As TCSS Superintendent

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County School System provided more information Thursday after news broke that Superintendent Keri Johnson was stepping down to take on the same role with Pelham City Schools.

TCSS says Johnson, who has served as superintendent for the last five years, plans to formally submit her resignation to the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education at its Sept. 2 meeting.

“I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished together," Johnson said. "Please know that Tuscaloosa County will always hold a special place in my heart. The success of our system is because of you — our teachers, support staff, administrators, and every person who gives their best each day for students.”

Tuscaloosa County Board of Education President Bill Squires expressed his gratitude to Johnson for her service over the years and said information will be shared with the TCSS community as soon as possible regarding a search for the next superintendent.
