Large Trash Fire Contained In Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue (TFR) responded to a large outdoor fire Friday afternoon that doesn't appear to have resulted in any injuries or substantial property damage.

Authorities speaking to Patch said emergency responders answered a call in the 5500 block of Joe Mallisham Parkway at 2:30 p.m. and TFR later said the fire was contained by 4 p.m.

Tuscaloosa Police confirmed that drones were also deployed during the initial response.

First responders speaking on background said they believed the blaze was the result of a shredded waste pile catching fire.

A large plume of black smoke was visible from miles away and crews were wrapping up at the scene as of the publication of this story.
