Michael Gardiner Appointed City Engineer For Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Tuesday announced the appointment of Michael Gardiner as Tuscaloosa's next city engineer.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Tuesday announced the appointment of Michael Gardiner as Tuscaloosa's next city engineer.

His first official day on the job was Monday.

Gardiner has worked for the city since 2020, previously serving as the assistant city engineer before being named acting city engineer.
Gardiner worked with McGiffert and Associates, LLC as a project manager, prior to his time with the City of Tuscaloosa.

“Mike follows in the footsteps of leaders such as Woolsey Finnell, Joe Robinson and David Griffin,” Maddox said. “The Office of the City Engineer designs Tuscaloosa’s future, and I believe that Mike is the right leader at the right moment for our community.”
The city says Gardiner holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology from the University of Alabama, in addition to being a licensed professional engineer and a licensed professional land surveyor.
He is also a member of the American Society of Engineers and the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors.
