Moundville Archaeological Park To Host Artist-In-Residency Museum Induction Thursday

Smith and Spain have been on hand this month at the park demonstrating traditional weaving techniques such as twining and basket making.

MOUNDVILLE, AL — Moundville Archaeological Park on Thursday will officially welcome Mary Smith and Nancy Spain from the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma to the Jones Archaeological Museum as the museum's new artists in residence.

Smith and Spain have already been on hand this month at the park demonstrating traditional weaving techniques such as twining and basket making.

The induction event on Thursday will begin with demonstrations from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by demonstrations from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Light refreshments and artwork reveal in the museum will be held at 4 p.m. The events will be free with paid admission to the park.
