Moundville Native, UWA Softball Standout Selected For GSC All-Academic Team

TUSCALOOSA, AL — University of West Alabama senior catcher Kelsie Gilliam, a native of Moundville, has been named to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic team.

Those selected to the GSC All-Academic team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better their entire academic career at their institution and may not be a freshman or first-term transfer.

Gilliam graduated from UWA with a degree in health science and started in all 54 games for the Tigers in 2024, mostly as a catcher.

At the plate, Gilliam recorded a .338 on-base percentage with 43 hits, 32 walks and 15 hit by pitches.

In the classroom, she was also named to the 2021 GSC Spring All- Academic Honor Roll.

A graduate of Hale County High School, Gilliam played high school softball under her father.

She was named All-State in 2015 and helped the Wildcats win the state championship in 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Gilliam is the daughter of Royce and Dana Brehm.
