Moundville Woman Killed In Crash Near Akron Thursday Morning

Investigators say a Moundville woman was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash north of Akron.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Investigators say a Moundville woman was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash north of Akron on Alabama Highway 60.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the crash occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m. Thursday when the 2009 Mazda CX-9 driven by Tracie H. Powell, 74, left the roadway and struck a tree on Alabama Highway 60.

ALEA said Powell was pronounced dead at the scene, which was roughly two miles north of the city of Akron.

The cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.
