Murder Arrest Made In Fatal Creekwood Village Shooting

An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex earlier this month.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex earlier this month.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, said Darrien Devonta “Buck” Boyd, 30, has been charged with capital murder and attempted murder after a fatal shooting on Aug. 9 just before midnight at Creekwood Apartments.

Kennedy said Boyd, who initially fled the scene, was apprehended early Wednesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and is now held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond, pending a review under Aniyah’s Law.

As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police found Emilio Travon Herndon, 23, dead at the scene. Additionally, another individual suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Kennedy said the shooting appears to have stemmed from a minor altercation.
