TUSCALOOSA, AL — ‌As we begin our first day of classes here at the Capstone, I am excited to experience my first semester at UA alongside you and to see our campus come alive with possibilities.

‌Over the past four weeks I have had the opportunity to meet many of you across campus, and I can’t thank you enough for the warm welcome. Every conversation I have had so far has reminded me that UA is built on people who care deeply for one another, believe in the strength of education to inspire change and are excited to think big.

Here at UA each and every day we are making a difference. I’m proud to be part of what comes next.

‌‌Students, this is your home away from home. I encourage you to explore and engage in the boundless opportunities available to you at the Capstone. Show up for Weeks of Welcome activities, introduce yourself to someone new and join that club you’re curious about. Make the most of these first weeks by diving into campus life, meeting people with stories different from your own and finding your place in our community.

‌Faculty, thank you for the expertise and energy you bring to every class and conversation. You not only teach — you inspire. You push students to stretch beyond what they thought was possible, and that’s a gift that lasts a lifetime. Your work changes lives.

‌Staff, you are the gears that keep UA moving. From the moment students arrive to the day they cross the stage at commencement, you ensure the University runs smoothly and that every person has the tools they need to succeed. What you do matters.

‌We are one team. When we work together — across every department, discipline and role — we all make a greater impact. Love what you do, keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible and know that there are no limits to what we can achieve together. Legends are built here, and we are just getting started.
