Once on scene, officers found two males had been shot, with one dying from his injuries and the other suffering injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Patch reported that Aaron Reshad Smith, 37, was charged with murder and attempted murder in the shooting, which resulted in the death of Travaris Keandre Banks, 41.

Later in the week, Patch reported that a second shooting occurred at Brookhaven Apartments on that resulted in two people being hospitalized.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media that Tuscaloosa Police officers responded Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. after receiving the initial call of a shooting.

Kennedy said two individuals were then located at the hospital and both had injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

"The initial investigation revealed that one of the subjects at the hospital was the initial aggressor and shot the other, and gunfire was exchanged," he said. "The aggressor was also shot at some point."

Kennedy then said both individuals are still hospitalized and the investigation is ongoing.

"Once it is completed, and formal charges are brought, the suspect or suspects will be identified," he said. "There is no evidence that this incident was related to the previous shooting/murder that occurred at the same apartment complex earlier this week."

This is a developing story. Tuscaloosa Patch will have more information as it comes available.
