A Northport man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Martin Road, a few miles east of Northport.
NORTHPORT, AL — A Northport man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Martin Road in Northport.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. when the 2005 GMC Yukon driven by Nickolas S. Newell, 25, left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

ALEA reported that Newell was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no other details were provided at this stage of the investigation.
