Northport Teen Dies After Being Struck On Highway 82

ALEA on Tuesday said a single-vehicle crash involving a teen pedestrian has resulted in the death of the 16-year-old.

NORTHPORT, AL — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) on Tuesday said it is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash involving a 16-year-old pedestrian.

The incident occurred around 10:55 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, on Highway 82, approximately four miles east of Tuscaloosa.

ALEA says the teen was critically injured after being struck by a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 driven by a Centreville resident.

The injured juvenile was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries and died on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation and no word has been given as to if the drive of the GMC will face charges.
