Occupants, Cat Rescued From Thursday Night Apartment Fire In Tuscaloosa
Two people and a cat were rescued from an apartment fire late Thursday night in Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two people and a cat were rescued during an apartment fire late Thursday night in Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue says crews were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. to Inverness Apartments following a report of a structure fire and arrived to find light smoke showing from the roof of the building.

TFR went on to say that as firefighters worked to locate the source of the fire, a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputy already present at the scene discovered and assisted in evacuating two victims from the apartment.
Both individuals were reportedly conscious and breathing on their own when they were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

What's more, firefighters are being praised for safely rescuing a cat and using its Engine 5 pet mask to provide the frightened feline with oxygen.

"The outcome of this incident is a testament to the exceptional teamwork and professionalism displayed by all personnel including TFR, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, and Northstar," TFR Public Information Officer Holly Whigham said.
