TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Bessemer man is dead after a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Alabama Highway 216 in Tuscaloosa County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the crash occurred at approximately 2:21 p.m. Thursday when the 2016 Toyota Corolla driven by Wayne A. Chastine, 57, left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

ALEA said Chastine was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 64-year-old man from Tuscaloosa was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment.

The site of the crash on Alabama Highway 216 was approximately five miles east of Brookwood.
