The parade will follow the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse and feature the theme “Snow Much Fun,” celebrating the season with floats, marching bands, decorated vehicles, and community displays from organizations across West Alabama.
The annual holiday event dates back to 1976, which featured the inaugural honoree, Alabama football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.

Hogue, who retired from the PARA Board earlier this year, has long been recognized for her commitment to accessible recreation and community service.
PARA says Hogue's leadership and advocacy have helped expand recreational opportunities across Tuscaloosa County, touching countless programs and families.
Phelps, who passed away in August at age 93, dedicated 27 years to PARA’s Board and Foundation, including service as board chair.
PARA said Phelps' visionary leadership guided major projects across the county, and her legacy is memorialized in the Mary Ann Phelps Activity Center, named in her honor in 2002. Beyond PARA, Phelps was also an active civic leader involved in education, health care, the arts, and youth development.
Together, Hogue and Phelps held the City of Tuscaloosa’s PARA Board seat for a combined 49 years.
“Both Peggy and Mary Ann exemplify what it means to serve with heart,” PARA said in a statement. “Their dedication strengthened PARA and enriched the lives of families across our county. It is a privilege to celebrate their legacy as this year’s Grand Marshals.”
PARA says groups interested in participating in the parade must register by Friday, Nov. 14, at midnight. A mandatory participation meeting will take place Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 5:45 p.m. at the Belk Activity Center for all confirmed entries.
