NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport Police Department says a pedestrian is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck on McFarland Boulevard near Northport City Hall Wednesday evening.

Northport Assistant Police Chief Keith Carpenter told Patch that a 79-year-old woman was struck at approximately 7:49 p.m. in 3500 block of McFarland Boulevard.

He then said she was hospitalized in critical condition and NPD's Traffic Reconstruction team is processing the scene.

The incident caused heavy impacts to the flow of traffic and no other information has been released at this time.
