Pedestrian Struck And Killed On I-359 Wednesday Morning

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police say a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed early Wednesday morning on Interstate 359.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, the Tuscaloosa Police Department said the woman was walking east across the southbound lanes of the 3100 block of I-359 when she was struck by an oncoming box truck.

TPD says the driver of an SUV behind the box truck swerved into a second box truck, which then struck the woman.

The victim has not been publicly identified at this time and the Tuscaloosa Police Department says the accident occurred at 4:29 a.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

TPD's Traffic Homicide Unit investigators responded and all southbound lanes were re-opened just after 7 a.m.
