"The lone occupant and driver was injured and unresponsive," Kennedy said. "Medical aid was rendered, and the suspect was taken to DCH where life-saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful."

The driver was identified 31-year-old Jaylen Reed of Aliceville.
Kennedy said no other vehicles were struck or involved in the crash.
He also explained that investigators and supervisors not affiliated with the Tuscaloosa Police Department will be conducting the investigation, along with the assistance of the Northport Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit.
"Multiple witnesses and sources of video were obtained," he said. "The time from the patrol unit activating its lights to initiate the stop until the crash was less than 30 seconds. The driver was later found to have multiple active felony warrants."
