As Patch previously reported, the Northport City Council in June unanimously voted to grant a timetable extension to the owners of Diamond Jim's and Mrs. Donna's after entering a partnership agreement in October 2023 to build its newest steakhouse on a vacant lot on Highway 43 across from Los Tarascos.

The timetable was then approved for an anticipated opening date in October 2026.

Patch reported in 2023 that the estimated capital investment from the developers was expected to be approximately $1.7 million, with city leaders saying the restaurant would generate significant sales tax revenue and provide new jobs.

According to the original project agreement, the city will rebate the restaurant developer an amount equal to one-half of the City Sales Tax Revenue collected and received by the city from the net taxable sales generated by the project.

The amount rebated will be capped at $500,000 or if the agreement reaches seven years from its commencement date, following the first point of sale, whichever comes first.
