TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Prattville man is dead and a woman is hospitalized with injuries following a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon near Brierfield in Bibb County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the fatal wreck occurred on Alabama Highway 139 in the area of Six Mile Creek at approximately 3:25 p.m. when a 1996 Dodge Ram driven by Timothy Knox Jr. left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

ALEA said Knox was not using his seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.

Knox was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 39 years old.

ALEA also said a passenger in the truck — a 40-year-old woman from Prattville — was injured and transported to UAB Hospital or treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
