The damage was caused when the bridge was struck by a commercial vehicle last September.

ALDOT says the inspection found damage to the concrete and a girder. However, the damage wasn't significant enough to require an immediate repair.

It was then decided to wait until after school dismissed for the summer to begin the repairs to lessen the impact on traffic.

ALDOT said work on the $269,000 project is expected to begin Tuesday, May 30, and will continue for approximately three weeks.

The Bridge Builders of Alabama, LLC is the contractor in charge of the repairs and will close the Jack Warner Parkway eastbound lane on the bridge for the entirety of the project

Additionally, ALDOT says US Highway 82 lane closures near the bridge will only occur between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
