As Patch previously reported, the teenage suspect was initially charged with murder and first-degree robbery after TPD was called at 11 p.m. Friday night to the scene of a shooting and car crash in the 2200 block of Reece Boulevard.

Kennedy said a vehicle had crashed into a residence and one occupant was found to be dead from gunshot wounds, while a second juvenile occupant was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The second victim died Sunday.

"The scene was extensive and both TPD and [the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office's] crime scene units worked together to process the scene," Kennedy said on Saturday. "After investigation, a suspect and several persons of interest were identified and located. It was determined that the shooting and subsequent crash were the result of a robbery attempt."

Kennedy explained that the driver of the vehicle was shot, which caused the vehicle to crash into a residence.

He then said the identities of those involved would not be released due to both the victims and suspect being juveniles.

The fatal shooting on Reece Boulevard is just the latest during a violent week for Tuscaloosa County, with the most recent killing representing the fifth shooting call investigated by the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit in the last week.

This also is the third shooting death of a juvenile in Tuscaloosa this week, following an unrelated shooting Wednesday on Second Avenue that left a teenager dead.
