Shelton State Quality Engineering instructor Robert Everett said the course will include the history and evolution of modern quality theory, using problem-solving models, designing experiments, as well as product, process, and quality system auditing.
He also pointed out that there is no other program like this in the Alabama Community College System.
“The Quality Engineering degree program is essential in providing industry talent and operational effectiveness in the control of processes,” Everett said. “This intensive program provides the foundational and advanced tool and techniques to build a successful career as a quality engineer. Industry leaders have told me that the skills we are teaching have been badly needed and have not existed to this point. International auditing companies have already expressed interest in immediately hiring anyone who graduates from this program.”
Registration for the Quality Engineering program is ongoing, with fall classes set to begin Aug. 19.
