Shelton State Cross Country Snags Conference Postseason Honors

Shelton State Community College's women's cross country team picked up a couple of prestigious postseason honors on Friday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College's women's cross country team picked up a couple of prestigious postseason honors on Friday.

The Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) announced that Shelton State runner Miriam Dominguez-Tellez had been named its Women's Cross-Country Runner of the Year.

This comes after she won the first individual ACCC title in school history by setting a new school record with a time of 19:35.

SSCC head coach Charles Tiller was also named ACCC Women's Cross-Country Coach of the Year after the Bucs finished runner up at the conference championship at John Hunt Park in Huntsville.

A 2023 NJCAA Coaches Association All-American, Dominguez-Tellez is a native of Gallion and attended Demopolis High School.

Tiller has had a successful run at Shelton State after coaching at American Christian Academy and becoming the seventh-winningest coach in Alabama high school history.

Last fall, Tiller's SSCC women’s team finished second in the conference and 15th at the NJCAA National Championships, with Dominguez-Tellez shattering school records along the way.
