Shelton State's Morrison Breaks School's Career Home Run Record, Wins ACCC Batting Crown

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College sophomore infielder Kyle Morrison had a season for the record books after winning the 2024 Alabama Community College Conference batting title and breaking the career home run mark for the Buccaneers.

Morrison, a native of Wetumpka, finished the 2024 campaign with a .450 average, which is the highest in Shelton State baseball history. He also topped the school’s list with 37 career doubles.

Morrison's 19 home runs over 121 career games also broke the school's previous career record, breaking the previous mark held by Clay Jones and John David Kubiszyn.
During the regular season, Patch reported that Morrison had a stretch where he reached base in 14 of his 15 plate appearances against Lawson State, boosting his streak of hits in consecutive plate appearances.

The record-breaking dinger came in the first inning against Northwest Florida State on Monday in a game that saw the Bucs eliminated from the 2024 NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, which saw Morrison go 5-for-12 with a double, one home run and two RBIs in three games.
Morrison has signed to continue his baseball career at South Alabama.
