Shelton State sophomore infielder Kyle Morrison has been named the Alabama Community College Conference Co-Player of the Week.

TUSCALOOSA, AL β Shelton State sophomore infielder Kyle Morrison has been named the Alabama Community College Conference Co-Player of the Week.

A native of Wetumpka, Morrison reached base in 14 of his 15 plate appearances against Lawson State, boosting his streak of hits in consecutive plate appearances.

The ACCC says more reached base in 11 straight plate appearances before a fly out to left in game one on Saturday, before pointing out that the MLB record is 16 straight times on base by Ted Williams.
Morrison also has reached base in 32 consecutive games.

Over the series with Lawson State, Morrison logged 10 runs scored, five walks, four doubles, four RBIs and was hit by pitches three times, leading him to an eye-popping 1.429 slugging percentage for the week.
Shelton State (32-14, 21-5 ACCC) returns to action at home on Saturday against Coastal Alabama, with the first pitch set for 2 p.m.
