Slate Of Events Announced For River Run Park Grand Opening

NORTHPORT, AL — The City of Northport is gearing up to celebrate the grand opening of River Run Park on Saturday, Aug. 16, with a full day of activities, live entertainment, and community events at the new youth sports complex.

The free event will take place at 300 River Run Park South and will be split into two segments — a morning session from 9 a.m. to noon and an evening session from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

The day will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by a meet-and-greet with University of Alabama baseball players, a prep baseball skills assessment, and a live DJ performance.

Morning activities will also include the Pepsi Ball Catch and games featuring Warrior Baseball and Northport Fastpitch teams.

Evening festivities will start at 6 p.m. with another round of the Pepsi Ball Catch and a performance by a live band.

The Warrior Baseball Blue vs. White Game will take place at 6:30 p.m., leading up to a fireworks and drone show at 8:30 p.m.

In addition to scheduled programming, attendees will also be able to enjoy food trucks, a kids’ zone, and vendors throughout the event.
