Teen Charged With Felony For Threat Against Eastwood Middle School

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A 13-year-old student has been charged with making terroristic threats after a social media post threatened violence against Eastwood Middle Schools students.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said Saturday that the post, which was widely shared on Facebook Friday, prompted several calls to the police from concerned parents and community members.

TPD then launched an investigation, and the student was questioned on Saturday before being formally charged.

"Parents should never be afraid to send their children to school, and children should never feel unsafe when they’re there," Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley said. "We’re grateful to those who reported this quickly so we could address it and ensure a safe learning environment for the students."
