Three Injured In Sunday Morning Shooting At Large Party In Tuscaloosa

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says two people were critically injured and another hurt in a shooting early Sunday morning.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says two people were critically injured and another hurt in a shooting early Sunday morning on University Lane.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, said police responded to the 800 block of University Lane around 4 a.m. Sunday morning and found two victims with gunshot wounds.

Kennedy said both individuals are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, where their injuries are described as critical.

He then said a third person, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, transported themselves to the hospital shortly after the shooting.

Kennedy went on to say that the shooting occurred during a large party attended by numerous people.

No arrests or potential charges have been made public at this time.

Investigators are presently seeking assistance from witnesses and Kennedy said anyone with information is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121.
