Tide Falls To Michigan In Overtime Rose Bowl Slugfest
The Crimson Tide for the second game in a row knocked off a top-ranked, undefeated team in a defensive showdown with Michigan.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Crimson Tide's exciting run after early season doubts finally came to an end New Year's Day in the Rose Bowl by way of an overtime loss to Michigan, 27-20.

After going into the half down 13-10, the SEC-champion Crimson Tide and quarterback Jalen Milroe clawed back in the second half, with the defense giving the Wolverines little room to move.

Michigan did manage to tie the game at 20 with 1:34 left in the game, which set up a Bama drive that stalled, but ended with a deep punt that was muffed on the goal line.
This forced the game to overtime, which saw Michigan come out with the ball first after Alabama won the toss and deferred. Michigan scored quickly in overtime, with Alabama falling short on the goal line to end the season.

Michigan will now face the winner of the other College Football Playoff Semifinal matchup of the day between Washington and Texas, with the title game set for Houston on Monday, Jan. 8.
