Tide Softball Adds Two Senior Pitchers From Transfer Portal

Alabama softball this week announced the addition of two new senior pitchers coming to Tuscaloosa by way of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball this week announced the addition of two new senior pitchers coming to Tuscaloosa by way of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Emily Winstead, a native of Bunn, North Carolina, spent the last three seasons at UNC Wilmington, where she was a two-time NFCA All-Region honoree and became the school's first Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year as a freshman in 2022.

Winstead also helped lead UNCW to a pair of CAA titles in 2022 and 2024, posting a career 2.26 ERA and a 31-22 record. She is credited with striking out 402 batters across 353.2 innings pitched.

Also joining the pitching staff is Catelyn Riley, who joins the team after three seasons at Ole Miss.

A native of Dandridge, Tennessee, Riley boasts a 24-18 career record and a 2.96 ERA across 86 appearances for the Rebels.

One of Riley's biggest highlights can when she secured the final two outs to earn a save in Ole Miss' win over then-No. 2 LSU in Baton Rouge, dealing the Tigers' their first loss of the year.

Riley also pitched in a pair of postseason victories over Baylor in 2023, earning the win in the elimination matchup to send Ole Miss to the Salt Lake City Regional final game against Utah.

In high school, Riley was the 2019 5Star Prep Pitcher of the Year and East Tennessee AAA Miss Softball at Jefferson County High School.
