Tide's Hubbard Named SEC Co-Defensive Player Of The Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama safety Bray Hubbard was named Southeastern Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after a standout performance in the Crimson Tide’s 38-14 win over Wisconsin.

The honor is the first for Hubbard, a junior from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and the first weekly award for Alabama this season.

He also earned Panini Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week recognition for his effort against the Badgers.

In the win over Wisconsin, Hubbard intercepted two passes, recorded five tackles and limited the Badgers to just one catch on five targets in coverage.

According to Pro Football Focus, he earned a 92.0 overall grade, the sixth-highest mark among defenders nationally in Week 3.

Alabama’s defense held Wisconsin to 209 total yards, including just 117 passing and 92 rushing, and allowed only one offensive touchdown.

The Crimson Tide will have a bye week on Saturday and will return to action on Sept. 27 with a highly anticipated road matchup with Georgia.
